In March 2016 Aetheleon started a cooperation with researchers from the Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources (IPBGR) and Institute of Soil and Water Resourses (ISWR) of Hellenic Agricultural Organisation “Demeter” (Former National Agricultural Research Foundation – Nagref), both based in Thessaloniki, and the Dept. of Pharmacognosy – Pharmacology of the School of Pharmacy/Faculty of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in order to study the conditions that affect the growth of oregano plants and the parameters affecting the quality and quantity of oregano essential oil. This cooperation emerged from our need to connect theory with practice, enabling researchers to collect and evaluate research data “in the field”, under real conditions.
The researchers, who participate in monitoring of the field on a pro bono voluntary basis, are:
Dr Eleni Maloupa – Hellenic Agricultural Organisation “Demeter”, Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources (IPBGR), Director
Katerina Papanastasi, Αgronomist, MSc
Dr Diamanto Lazari – Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy, Dept of Pharmacognosy – Pharmacology , Laboratory of Pharmacognosy, Associate Professor
Dr Frantzis Papadopoulos, Agronomist-Enviromental Engineer, MSc, Phd – Hellenic Agricultural Organisation “Demeter”, Institute of Soil and Water Resourses, Senior Researcher
Irini Metaxa, Geologist, Land Reclamation, MSc – Hellenic Agricultural Organisation “Demeter”, Institute of Soil and Water Resourses, Researcher
Polixeni Psomas, Chemist
Georgios Menexes, Assistant Professor of Biometry, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Agriculture, Lab of Agronomy
The results of the study are updated whenever new research data are available.
